Schlagel is interested in adding a senior level Civil Engineer to our team. The ideal candidate will have obtained a B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited university, be a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Kansas and Missouri, and have 10+ years of experience in the industry.
Schlagel is a multi-discipline firm currently involved in a variety of commercial and industrial projects, multi-family and single family developments, and public works related projects for various local jurisdictions. This position will be involved in design support of projects in all phases of design including planning, permitting and construction.
Candidate should be knowledgeable of AutoCAD Civil 3D design software as well as various hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software applications.
The essential duties of this position include:
- Site design of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, stormwater quality BMPs, roadways, parking and various other civil related infrastructure
- Firm understanding of Local, State, and Federal permitting regulations
- Coordination with Clients, Project Managers, Staff Engineers, and Technicians
- Lead the preparation of Stormwater Management Reports and other technical documents

This position will be involved in design support of projects in all phases of design including planning, permitting and construction. The ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:
- B.S. or B.L.A. Landscape Architecture from an accredited university
- Licensed or pursuing a license to practice landscape architecture in Kansas and Missouri
- 3+ years of applied professional experience
- Project management experience
- Site and planting design experience for single use and mixed use projects
- Park and amenity design experience
- Single family subdivision design experience
- Experience working with federal, state, and local codes, ordinances and public agency standards related to land development design, entitlement processes, and permitting

Schlagel is interested in adding an experienced Instrument Operator to our Land Survey Team.
The individual will be performing field data collection (using Total Station and GPS equipment), boundary surveys and construction staking. Previous land surveying experience is required for this position.

SCHLAGEL is seeking an entry-level Land Surveyor to work on our field crews assisting experienced surveyors in the field and office, collecting data, performing calculations, and creating basic survey plans. Perform staking on active construction sites. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, a willingness to learn, and an aptitude for mathematics and spatial awareness. Prior work experience is not required – but the desire to learn and grow is a must.

Responsibilities:
- Field Work: Assist with setting up and operating surveying equipment (total stations, GPS), collecting data, and marking property lines and other features.
- Construction Staking: Learn to stake and layout Engineering designs for roads, sewers, mass earthwork, buildings and structures.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate field notes and records of survey data.
- Research and Documentation: Assist with researching land records and preparing survey reports.

SCHLAGEL is seeking a construction inspector to support our design team. The ideal candidate will have experience with inspection of sanitary sewer construction, roadway projects, storm sewer construction, and field materials testing. Opportunity to lead a team of Contract Inspectors, depending on qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret plans and specifications
- Observe and inspect construction to ensure compliance with contract documents
- Perform project documentation, keeping timely and accurate reporting
- Prepare pay applications, change orders and general administrative duties
- Report discrepancies to Engineers and Managers
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- At least 5+ years or more of inspection related experience
- KDOT or MoDOT Certified Inspector Training Certifications preferred, but will provide if needed
- OSHA 10-hr certification preferred, but will provide if needed
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Broad knowledge of construction materials and methods preferred
- Experience with earthwork, asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and other utilities is desirable
- Self-motivated, optimistic attitude
- Excellent organizational and computer documentation skills
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry field equipment up to 50 lbs
