KBA Venture Accelerator
Project Overview
Schlagel collaborated with PGAV Architects to develop a site design for the Kansas Bioscience Authority Venture Accelerator Building. The project, designed to meet LEED silver requirements, includes rain gardens, bioswales, native landscape plantings, and drip line planters. Porous pavement has also been designed as a possible alternate for portions of the parking lot. The building was located on the site to maximize views to the lake and for the best solar orientation. The entry plaza, lower terrace, and conference room garden all provide opportunities for interaction between the building occupants. Bicycle parking, a locker room, car pool and efficient vehicle parking are provided. The buildings was designed to utilize the existing lake for the HVAC system.
